Electric Vehicle charge point installation. How much does it cost?

You can charge your EV at home using a normal electrical socket, however some disadvantages of this include.

  • Slow charging (very slow).

  • More strain on your existing electrical system due to a higher load.

  • Did I mention slow charging?

It can take up to 12 hours to fully charge your EV with a regular socket which is not practical for most people so let's look at some of the costs involved with installing a fast charger of around 7kW at home.

On average it would be around £1000 for the supply and installation cost of your EV charge point. Grant funding is available for some people that meet certain criteria but this will soon be a thing of the past.

Myenergi Zappi - A popular charge point that retails for around £700 and the smart hub is around £80. Installation would likely be around £350 making the total cost £1130.

Easee One - I have just installed one of these this week and the cost for the customer was £570 for the charge point and £350 for installation. Total cost £920
